Hello friends, and welcome to episode 7 of the Conscious Women Entrepreneurs Podcast!
We’ve reached the first work week of 2021 and most of you are probably back in the swing of “normal life”(quotation marks – let’s be real it’s not normal life atm). As we’re starting a fresh new year, I thought it’d be helpful for you all that I created an episode on “Stepping into our successful selves”.
First of all, I want to give a little disclaimer: Being successful is a very objective thing and what might look like success to some, might sound like total horror to others. I like to separate between traditional success and the new way of success. The traditional being to work your ass off, have limited sleep and social life as well as close to non-existent family life and holidays, BUT having lots of money and living in a mansion driving sports cars. The new way of success, however, I see as more in line with what the great Maya Angelou once said “Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.” In other words, the most successful life you can imagine for yourself might be totally different from that of another – but it is based upon YOUR core values, needs, wants and desires. I encourage you to stop the podcast now – or take a moment after you’ve listened through the whole episode, to jot down what you would MOST like your life to look like. This vision might change as you go and get to know yourself better, but it’s vital to have a North star to navigate towards when embarking on the journey to living life on YOUR terms. For 99% of people, living on your terms requires a certain amount of money – and that’s what I’m here to help you with as a coach; to paint the vision of your most ideal life, help you bridge the gap between where you are now and where you want to be – and to make the amount of money that you want in order to live that dream life.
But just to summarize, when I say “successful” throughout this episode – and anytime I speak, really – know that I’m referring to YOUR kind of success and not the traditional sort.
In our society, the main emphasis is on DOing – what actions you’re taking, how much you’re getting done in a day – you know, the hustle culture. However, as a coach, what I’m seeing really creates transformation and is generating major results, such as getting more clients, massively growing one’s income while also loving one’s life is to first focus on BEing rather than DOing. This might sound rather fluffy and you might think “well if I don’t do anything, nothing gets done and I won’t get results”. That is true, but this is the twist: By getting yourself into the mindset of the person that has the result you want, your actions will be aligned with the results that you desire rather than from your current situation. Here’s how you do it:
First, paint the vision for yourself. In this case, where do you want to be at the end of 2021. Be as detailed as you can. Really feel and live into how you want your life to be. You can use the wheel of life to help you out. This is a tool that’s used a lot in psychology and breaks life into 8 categories:

Be realistic though, you probably won’t make 1 million dollars in your first year of practicing this if your business is currently generating $30 000 a year. That being said, dare to dream big and to stretch yourself – creating a vision that encourages you to step outside your comfort zone. To grow, this is necessary. You don’t have to do it alone though, a coach can be a valuable resource to help you develop your 2021 goals and guide you along the way to get there.
SO, all you need to do to get the results you’ve just dreamed up for the end of the year, is to bridge the gap between your current self and your future self who has the results you dream of today.
Once you’ve painted a vision of what your most successful life will look like at the end of 2021, we look at who you need to BE to create these results. How is your future self thinking? How does she prioritise? What is her confidence level? What does she radiate? What does she believe about herself, her business, her offers and her clients? How does she feel? How does she show up? THIS is the foundation from which you want to take your actions. A higher energetic state and improved beliefs will produce higher quality work and it will shine through everything we do. So as we mentioned earlier, you need to take action, but you need to get yourself right first. Head over to the show notes and copy all the questions to do this exercise.
Another tip to help you step into your most successful self is to find someone who you see living a life similar to what you would like to live. Write down the answers to all of the questions I just stated – but for that person. So for example: What does she believe about herself? You might say; she believes that what she has to offer is valuable and that she can help a lot of people. She believes that by putting her work out into the world on a larger scale, she will make a massive difference in people’s lives. Lots of people would love to hear what she has to say etc. The answers you write down can now be converted to be your desired beliefs and thoughts. Now is the time to build these beliefs and become a product of them. A note of warning: contrary to popular belief (especially in the more spiritual communities), repeating an affirmation to yourself over and over is not effective. A part of yourself knows that you’re lying and will put up more resistance towards it. Your subconscious mind might even go to work to find opposing beliefs to those you’re trying to hammer into your head. I’ll speak more about this another time. It can be a bit tricky if you haven’t done belief upgrades before, but it is quite simple with the right tools. I help my clients with this all the time and we see amazing results from it.
As I just mentioned, you can’t just tell yourself over and over something that you don’t really believe and expect yourself to just start believing it. However, by thinking intentional thoughts, you can start to develop beliefs that are in alignment with your best life. Thoughts become beliefs and you take action that is in alignment with your beliefs and your actions become results. So, if you improve your thoughts, improve your beliefs, and therefore improve the actions that you take, you WILL get improved results. I use a tool that is just called “The model” which is super effective. What this does, in effect, is that it allows us to examine our default thinking patterns and then, from knowing what we default to, we can choose new intentional or conscious thoughts about the same circumstance. Not untrue thoughts, but thoughts that we actually believe that help us bridge the gap between what our beliefs are today to the beliefs we have to embody to get the result of our future successful self.
I just want to quickly address one of the larger elephants in the room. To create a thriving business, you need income and to generate income you have to …SELL. I know the S-word can seem dreadful, but the good news is that the tide is turning in sales too, and you can choose to practice conscious and mindful sales instead of the old school hard, cold selling models. You can have your clients come to you, ready to sign up rather than going out there to “find them”. I might create an episode on this whole concept another time.
